CASE STUDY Armorous Increases Employee Tenure by 163%
ABOUT
Armorous Security & Investigations is disrupting the private security and investigations industry to build a more secure California through their commitment to provide the best customer service and internal culture for their employees.
PROBLEM
Armorous Security and Investigations was struggling to keep their security officers past the 90-day employment milestone. They wanted to increase employee tenure and build a culture of appreciation in an industry that doesn’t reward or incentivize its employees enough. The average turnover for security organizations is more than 300%.
SOLUTION
As a former security guard, Eric Hanson, Armorous CEO, wanted to do things differently for his own organization – putting people over profit to create a culture that people love to work for and work with.
Armorous knew recognizing their employees early and often was the key to their success. They wanted to create a recognition program that rewarded and recognized employees for reaching every major milestone with Armorous, which starts in the first 30 days.
Armorous employees are recognized for the following service milestones:
- New hire
- 1 month
- 2 months
- 3 months
- 6 months
- 9 months
- 1 year
- 3 years
- 5 years
Armorous not only wanted to retain their employees, but they also wanted to reward and recognize them for their qualities of being a successful security officer.
- Core values (integrity, professionalism, and going above & beyond)
- Attendance
- A positive review from a customer
- Uniform inspection
- Safety
- Incident reporting
The security officers represent Armorous’ clients. Armorous also incorporated a program that allows their customers to recognize their security officers. This helps the security officers strive to be even better.
As a part of their program, Armorous also rewarded employees for employee referrals. The value of employee referrals is invaluable because employees only refer someone they trust and see as reliable.
RESULTS
Armorous not only increased employee tenure (by 163%), but they also increased employee engagement and customer satisfaction.
Field supervisors and Site supervisors have driven behavior change that contributes to the company’s success through recognizing and rewarding employees. More than 41% of all recognition types (monetary and nonmonetary) have been rewarded for Amorous core values.
Since the launch of the recognition program, 22% of the Armorous workforce has been hired from employee referrals. This plays homage to the fact that Armorous is changing the industry by creating a culture of appreciation.
